Official Vatican silver Annual Medal, year X of Pope John Paul II. On the obverse is a portrait of the Holy Father. The reverse is taken from a mosaic of the Madonna and Child which John Paul II desired to be placed on the facade of the Apostolic Palace overlooking St. Peter's Square, with the inscription MARIA MATER ECCLESIAE - ANNO MARIANO 1987-1988. Graded NGC Mint State 65.
