Pope Gregory XIV seated in throne and assisted by cardinals (nephew Paolo Emilio Sfondrati?) delivering a Christ banner to a kneeling individual. In 1591 Gregory XIV, threatened by the still Protestant Henry of Navarre (Henry IV of France), renewed Sixtus V's excommunication of Henry IV and dispatched a military expedition to France. A restrike from original dies.
