Anno II (1832) silver medal of Gregory XVI depicting the figure of the city of Rome holding a shield with the symbols of the Holy See, a serpent at feet and cowering figure to right (representing heretics). To the left is the figure of the Tiber River, walls and gate of Rome behind at left, St. Peter's Basilica behind at right. XF condition with some brilliance, scattered light marks on surfaces and edges, scrape on cheekbone. Very attractive, nice color, and hard-to-find medal in silver. By Giuseppe Cerbara.
