2000 Vatican Coin Set: Great Jubilee of 2000

On January 6, 2001, feast of the Epiphany, the Holy Father officially ended the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000 with a solemn celebration in St. Peter's. This set commemorates the memory and history of the 2000 jubilee with the following coins:

• 1000 Lire silver - Closing of the Holy Door
• 1000 Lire bimetal - Witnesses of Faith
• 500 Lire bimetal - Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
• 200 Lire - Prayer
• 100 Lire - Jubilee of Prisoners
• 50 Lire - Day for Peace
• 20 Lire - Jubilee of Artists
• 10 Lire - Jubilee of Children

The coins are designed by artist Cecco Bonanotte, who sculpted the marvelous bronze portal of the new entrance of the Vatican Museum, inaugurated during the Holy Year 2000.
