1997 San Marino Navigators Cabot & Da Gama Coins

1997 San Marino set of two silver proof coins, 5,000 Lire and 10,000 Lire, celebrating the great navigators John Cabot (Giovanni Caboto) and Vasco da Gama. Obverse of both coins shows San Marino's coat of arms. Reverse of the 5000 Lire coin shows the ship used by Vasco da Gama during his journey in 1497 around the Cape of Good Hope. Reverse of the 10000 Lire coin shows the two ships and the route followed by John Cabot in his voyage from Bristol to Newfoundland in 1497.
