(Urban VIII) 1625 Cardinal Millini Medal

The Holy Door opened, 1625. Cardinal Giovanni Garcia Millini’s Medal, cast bronze, very fine in an attractive warm brown, rare. The Monument to Cardinal Garcia Millini (1638), by Alessandro Algardi, is found in the Church of S. Maria del Popolo. As a senior Cardinal, Millini offered counsel to the Episcipal courts on the interpretation and implementation of the Malleus Maleficarum, the treatise on witchcraft.
