Pius V 1570 Victories Over Huguenots Medal

Medal, approximately 41mm across, depicting Pope Pius V praying to the Holy Father in the heavens and issued to commemorate victories by Catholics over the Huguenots in France (preceding the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre). A 20th century work of the Mint of Paris of a very rare medal (cf. C.N.O.R.P. #604).
