Obverse: Pope Pius IX right. Reverse: Allegorical figures of the continents bowing before the Pope seated on the throne. On the 50th anniversary of the consecration of Pius IX. 60mm across by Filippo Speranza, Chief Engraver of the Mint of Rome. Battered but still attractive with remaining gilt forming halos around the figures on the reverse.
