Medal commissioned by Vatican City for Pope Benedict XVI's pilgrimage to Germany, September 22-25, 2011, and given as a gift to local clergy and dignitaries. Gold over bronze 50mm. Scarce. Includes original plush case. Sculpted by Daniela Longo, artist for a number of Vatican City coins. This was Pope Benedict's first state visit to his native country as Pope.
