Clement V (Bertrand de Goth). 1305-14. Lead Seal – Bolla Papale (37.8mm, 39.2 g). Ss. Paul and Peter, facing slightly right and left, respectively, each within beaded halo; cruciform scepter between: SPASPE above / CLE/MENS / : PP : V (Ω over PP). White oxidation, tuft of multi-colored cord. Very rare. Pope Clement V was the pope who moved the Papacy from Rome to Avignon, ushering in the period known as the Avignon Papacy.
