Papal medal issued by the Marshall of the conclave, Prince Agostino Chigi, for the 1846 Sede Vacante after the death of Pope Gregory XVI and before the election of Pope Pius IX. Obverse: Coat of arms of the Chigi family in an ornate frame. Reverse: AVGVSTINVS PRINCEPS CHISIVS S.R.E. MARECHALLVS PERPETVVS MDCCCXXX. 28.8mm, white metal, very fine.
