Julius II (1503-13) Fortress at Civitavecchia

Medal first created in the late 16th or early 17th century by an anonymous artist, this sharp example is struck later but pre-dates the Mazio strikes. Shows the profile of Pope Julius II facing left while the reverse shows a view of the Rocca Giulia (Forte Michelangelo) first commissioned from Bramante by Julius II.
