Paul II (1464-71) Construction of Palazzo Venezia

Old cast bronze medal for the construction of Palazzo Venezia, 1465. Obverse: Bust of Pope Paul II facing left with inscription PAVLVS VENETVS PAPA II; Reverse: The Palazzo di Venezia (Palace of St. Mark) with the inscription HAS AEDES CONDIDIT ANNO CHRISTI M.CCCCLXV. This is the rarer version of this foundation medal which uses "PAPA" on the obverse. (C.N.O.R.P. #89).
