Urban III (1185-7) Bronze Restitution Medal

Bronze restitution medal of Pope Urban III. Obverse: bust right with inscription running from right to left VRBANVS III PONT MA. Reverse: Coat of arms depicting a crowned eagle. The first Pope whose arms are known with certainty is Pope Innocent IV (1243-54). Earlier Popes were attributed arms in the 17th century.
