Set of three photo postcards, no stamps affixed, each approximately 3.5" x 5", depicting the historic signing of the Lateran Treaty, ending 59 years of strained relations between the Kingdom of Italy and the Papacy. Includes three descriptive index cards reading:
- The two delegations arrive at the Lateran Palace for the signing of the treaty. Above 6, Cardinal Gasparri for the pope. 8, Benito Mussolini for the Kingdom of Italy
- On the same day, June 7, 1929, Pope Pius XI drives to the Lateran Basilica and is seated in the Bishop of Rome's episcopal throne. No pope had occupied it since 1870.
- In this photograph Benito Mussolini is actually signing the treaty for the Kingdom of Italy. With this treaty the famous "Roman Question" was solved.
